As we approach the end of the semester, reflect back on the class and share what you liked and disliked about the course. Was there a particular aspect of the course you liked? If so, what was it? Was there something you wished we had covered in the course, but did not? What were your favorite aspects of the course and why? What were your least favorite? Post your answers to these questions by the end of the day on Tuesday. Remember to respond to another classmates' response. Enjoy your weekend.
I really enjoyed the units where we created html pages and learned about applications for school. I think this course covered a lot of material that was very useful. I liked that we got to do a lot of projects. I think we should have spent more time learning about facebook because that part wasn't very long and not very interesting. I didn't really like the unit at the beginning of the course where we had to write news articles but all of the other units were fun and interesting.
ReplyDeleteI would agree, the part about facebook was too short. We should have gone over that in more detail.
DeleteI agree as well, so many kids spend so much time on facebook, That we should have spent more time learning what not to do and whats ok to do.
DeleteI agree with that writing a news article were less fun than other. It's hard to write your own news.
DeleteI really enjoyed being able to analyze different forms of media, particularly advertisements. Learning how to create an html page was really cool because I hadn't had much exposure to computer programming before. Learning about social networking sites was a very good use of class time. It allowed me to learn much more than I thought I'd ever learn about internet safety, as well as delving into the programming and technicalities of creating such sites. Although most of the course was very interesting to me, I had a hard time getting into some topics. Much like Sophia, I found the news articles and earlier projects to be more tedious and unnecessary than the material in the later part of the year. All in all, I really appreciate the knowledge I've gained from this course. I would highly recommend this class to a friend.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I really enjoyed creating html also. It's fun to know how a site is actually made and it really does take a lot time to make exactly what you want.
DeleteI really enjoyed learning about the HTML code and other behind-the-scenes aspects of the internet. I thought that the video about the internet was fascinating. What I didn't like was the social media project. It was very demanding and the presentations blurred together. It wasn't the presenters fault, just that the material was all a bit dry. We didn't talk about the mobile as aspects of Media Literacy, like always connected smart-phones.
ReplyDeleteThe part about the invention of the internet was interesting, I also think that The World According to Google film was interesting, because you get to see how a big internet company operates. I agree with you about the smart-phones, I think it would be interesting to cover that topic.
DeleteThe amount of things we covered in this class was awesome. We went over a lot of things that were covered very briefly, or maybe not as in depth as I would have hoped. It was harder to learn and remember the material since the subjects were very quick. I did enjoy all of the subjects and what not, but I did not enjoy the speed in which we went over said subjects. I think the project that we did most recently was the best, picking out a website and teaching the class how to use it. I thought this was awesome and now I have used Weebly.com since then. I have never done any thing like that project and I would be willing to do it again. I don't really think I had a least favorite because I enjoyed almost everything.
ReplyDeleteI agrees think that this class was very useful and it'll be a good skill to know how to use something like weebly in the future.
DeleteI think that this course was pretty good, I liked the html page project and the film unit. I think that we could have learned/focused more on social media. The educational websites project was helpful because I now know about a lot of websites that I can use for classes. I didn't like the units at the beginning of the semester as much (such as the newspaper analyzing). Writing the newspaper articles was interesting, and so was the advertising unit.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the ability to look at all different types of media in the world, my favorite part was learning to create a web page. learning about print ad's was really cool because you can see how much thought goes into attracting a certain audience. One thing I felt useful was learning how to use the internet. This allows me to find the information I need and what would be the best source to use. Also learning how the internet organizes its searches was really interesting. A lot like Des and Sophia, My least favorite section was the news articles. I felt that these area were much more boring because they are not used as much in my generation, so it wasn't something I would plan on using very often unless it was required. I still enjoyed learn about all the information out there and around us that is hiding in plain sight.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this class because it seems like we learned a lot of very useful things. I wish we had learned more about how films are made because that interests me. That may be a whole bother class though. I really liked most of the class because there was always some sort of useful information built in. I didn't really like the social media section but I still learned valuable information.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this class. I liked the html project. It was interesting to learn about how html webs are made and it was fun to create my own web page. I think we should have spent more time on the film section. I learned a lot in this class and I enjoyed most of the subjects we learned. The one I didn't really like was the newspaper section because I don't really into news and to write one my own.
ReplyDeleteI really had a hard time with the html project but i understand why it is so needed in the real world.
DeleteI really liked hearing about how media changed over time from the dark age to the modern age. I also liked learning about the internet i found it to be pretty scary but very good to no. i liked how the class had real world application and i could can and have used what i learned in the class in the real world
ReplyDeletethanks you for a great semester!
I enjoyed most aspects in this class. I liked learning about social media and how much it has an impact on all of us. Weebly is an amazing site: use it. My least favorite part was learning about film. I didn't mind watching the movies but I feel like we were not productive enough. Analyzing scenes from a movie was fun though. I enjoyed that. This class has made me understand more about the overview of media. We do not realize how little we know about our generation with regards to technology until we reflect back on it and this class helped me see it.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree, I did not like learning about the film ether
DeleteI agree also, I feel like we were not productive.
DeleteI only didn't like analyzine the film because of the number of times we had to watch the same clip and talk about how each shot affected the overall plot and mood of the scene. Otherwise it was a cool and different activity to do in class
DeleteMy favorite topic was learning about the different types of media in the world and advertisements. I really like creating the ads. It was fun. Lot of the topics we learned were interesting and I enjoyed it. I also liked creating the websites and learning about them. The websites were very useful and now I can start using them for next school year. The least topic I disliked was the newspaper. It wasn't very useful and it was boring. I also did not like writing news article but overall it was an interesting topic. All the other topics was fun and enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot about that! I also liked taking a deeper look into advertising, especially when we looked at the different aspects of the ads and what pieces attracted what age group and such!
DeleteI really enjoyed this class, I enjoyed learning about the development of tech over time, I realy enjoyed the printing press, that was a lot of fun. I was not a big fan of the film. I feel like we sort of rushed through it and I think it deserved a bit more spotlight.
ReplyDeleteThis class was really enjoyable! I learned a lot of very valuable information. Learning about the different websites and the HTML code was very interesting. Thanks for a great class!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed how there was no set path for the topics in the course. I kept things fresh and new each day. It was sometimes hard to guess where we would be if you missed a day but that is simply a consequence of missing a class. Because we were not limited to a rigid path of topics that had to build on each other we got to do things like one week work on making a website and the week before analyze a movie in excruciating detail. My favorite activity was making the website, it was fun, different, and took a lot of focus and trial and error.
ReplyDeleteAhhh sorry I was late. I think what I liked most about the class is that I learned a lot without a heavy work load, meaning that the activities in class were definitely enough. I feel like discussion and such was such a large part about the class and the most helpful, so it was good we didn't have a heavy homework load. I also liked that the blog was due on Tuesday so if I completely forgot or got caught up with other work, I still had Monday to make it up. I think what I disliked was spending so much time with newspapers and doing the projects and stuff. Certainly it's important to learn about the paper, but I think we spent a little too much time on it when we could have looked a bit deeper into other topics such as film or internet media. Overall it was an enjoyable class! Good luck in the following years!
ReplyDeleteOh and I would also like to add and suggest that you give a rubric for the exam, especially because I attempted to present a PAPER and had no idea about what I should talk about. Giving someone a 60 on an exam where seniors had a week less than everyone else that was a PAPER is not only very, VERY unclear, but also awful on the teachers part. Reconsider. Oh yeah, just to add again, my final WAS A PAPER!!! Pretty hard to present six sheets of a film analysis with no guidance as to WHAT you would like to see. Good luck with that one.
