As we finish quarter 3, how has the class progressed for you? What have you really enjoyed? What have you really not enjoyed?
Then, looking ahead to quarter 4, what projects/topics would you like to do or study? Post your responses by 3 p.m. on Tuesday. There will be no late credit given for this week's post. If you don't post by 3 p.m., it will count as a zero. Keep in mind this is one of your last grades for quarter 3.
For this post only, you do NOT have to respond to another post. Enjoy your weekend.
I feel like I have learned a lot in this class. I've never really though about this topic as deeply as we have in this class. I have not enjoyed some of the projects that we have done. I really look forward to the film section of this course. I have heard that we will have to opportunity to make a short film so i look forward to that.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the most recent subject, TV and its evolution over time. I however found the newspaper section very un engaging. I am looking forward to seeing how our mobile media effects us. I love my smartphone but I would like to know more about what its doing to me.
ReplyDeleteI found that this course has taught me many different ways to look at media in our lives, and how it can change what we think about a product. I really liked the counter ad project the most because it showed how even the littlest detail made a difference to the message of the ad. I found the newspaper section was not very interesting because it is not as big of a part in my life so I had no interest in it. I am interested to learn about how to be safe on the internet.
ReplyDeleteThis class has taught me how media has evolved over time and how we interact with it every day. I liked the TV research project, because it really shows you how much the shows have changed over the decades. For the newspaper section, I think it would be good to learn more about how the newspaper has affected people/societies. I'm interested in learning about the internet/social media and how that has changed our daily lives.
ReplyDeleteI've learned a lot in this class about how media has changed over the years. I enjoyed the most recent topic on TV because I never really knew what TV was like 50 or 60 years ago and it was interesting. I didn't really like the newspaper section because we didn't really learn about how the content of newspapers has changed over the years. I think learning about films and social media will be very interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis class has been fun for me since we have studied an area that I am pretty unfamiliar with. We have gotten to look at how different advertisements affect modern culture and force us to feel a certain way about an idea or product. I haven't liked how melodic the work has been, it all seems a bit forced just like the ads we watch. Every assignment is driving after what you feel and what you think and less about what we have learned. Even the assignments where we research a question we are still basically presenting on our opinion of that question. Every journal entry is pure opinion and so are the blog entry. I would like if at some point there were small assignments that could be graded on a right and wrong basis instead of a coherentness standpoint which is also optional.
ReplyDeleteI would like to study more of how perhaps popular movies have affected social norms or how big companies and products have changed the way we are influenced by media.
I've enjoyed this class and have learned a lot about the media and its impacts. Assignments and class projects are making you think further into the topic which I have enjoyed. I don't mind any of the projects and class work. I look forward to the section, The Advent of the Internet.
ReplyDeleteThis class has been good, I have learned a lot and had fun while doing it. There have been a few things in this class that I have not been okay with but I have try to look past these things and figure out the big picture. I hope that next quarter will be even better!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think this class has been a good one for me to take. Being a second semester senior has been hard for me, in the means of concentrating in class and getting homework assignments done on time, and media literacy adds some interesting things to my day that I don't normally think about. For example, creating counter ads and learning about newspapers and the different aspects that come with a paper have been cool things to talk about. I think in the beginning, the class was slowly progressing, and I have come to enjoy learning about how media affects us. For quarter four, I would probably like to do more projects exploring the media and techniques that are needed to be successful in marketing. Also, looking at film and why maybe it's so popular or how to create certain movies (might not be so much media literary, but I'm not sure). I look forward to ending my senior year in this class.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I learned a lot from this class. I like all the things we did it gave me better understanding of media. This class taught me what the ads try to tell us. I'm looking forward to newt quarter and looking forward to new staff we are going to learn about.
ReplyDeleteI have had a a lot of fun in this class so far. I have enjoyed learning about different types of media and how it effects many different age groups. With the most recent project, I have had a lot of fun looking at different genres of TV shows and seeing how they have progressed over the years and the effects they have on us.
ReplyDeleteThis english course has been really fun and interesting. I really enjoyed learning about the media and how it has changed over past years. I also enjoyed learning about the ads. The way they are trying to sell products and you see ads everywhere. I don't mind doing the projects. I learn a lot doing from the projects. The least topic I was not interested in was learning about the newspaper. I feel like I did not really learn a lot from it and it was not appealing. I'm looking forward to learn about how the internet is changing. Thank you for a fun 3rd quarter. I'm looking forward to a new quarter and learning more about the media.
ReplyDeleteI think a media literacy class is a very good idea and every one should take one before they leave HHS. i really enjoyed watching that movie about the television company and their standing off to McArthur. I also found the documentary on the fall of the newspaper business very interesting. I did not so much enjoy learning about the printing press, But I understand why it is important to learn about it when learning about media.
DeleteThis english class has been different from pervious english classes I have taken. I was a bit skeptical at first when this class started. Now, I can say I really enjoy this class. I know more about media and how it has changed of the years than I ever would of, if I hadn't signed up for this. I am looking forward to fourth quarter and all the new things I will learn. Thanks for a fun third quarter!

ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed this class so far, I have never focused so much on the media and I am learning a lot that I didnt know. I think it would be intresting to focus a bit more on the internet. I enjoyed newspapers but I would like it if we did more on current media.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
I have really appreciated how interesting this class has been. I really enjoy learning about the psychology behind successful media, and this class has provided a good introduction for that. I have really enjoyed how diverse and wide-scope the class is, for it can sometimes be tedious to study a single subject intensively for a few weeks. This class moves from topic to topic pretty quickly, which is pretty relieving in my mind (especially for an English class). I would like to learn a bit more about video games during quarter #4; we haven't touched upon that subject too much.
ReplyDeleteThroughout quarter three, I really enjoyed the interesting details about the printing press and the video we watched about it. I didn't enjoy "Goodnight and Good Luck" partly because I've already seen it twice and because it took up so much class time. In total, I feel like I've learned a good amount of information from this class so far. In quarter four I really hope that we'll make advertisements for a made up thing/topic (or not made up) that we would "sell" to the world. Relating to what Alex suggested, maybe we could make a commercial or website as the advertising method.
